A look back at what has happened on the Leeds beer scene over the last few months. This is a mixture of CAMRA organised events and a selection of non-CAMRA news from pubs, breweries and cider makers. For earlier events see the News Archive.

  • Abbey Inn, Spring Pub of the Season Thursday 7 May 2026

    The Abbey Inn at Newlay won the voting for Spring Pub of the Season. It has a good raport with the local community holding regular events including the well established annual beer and music festival. Helen and her team made everyone welcome at the award ceremony.

  • Pub of the Year, Old Cock in Otley Saturday 11 April 2026

    The Old Cock has won this award several times having first achieved success in 2010 and then winning it 4 times since then. In a market town with many good pubs this one is go to whenever visiting. Here's Lisa holding the award with the rest of the team.

  • Winter Pub of the Season is Templar, Leeds Saturday 31 January 2026

    The Templar is a traditional city centre Grade II listed pub. The choice of cask ales is varied and mainly from Yorkshire, they are kept at reasonable prices. Here's Wayne and the team accepting the award.

  • January news Friday 30 January 2026

    2 pub openings of interest to report. These opened late December.

    The Victoria Family & Commercial in the city centre re-opened under joint ownership, Kirkstall and Five Points Brew Co. The pub interior hasn't been altered with 8 cask ales to choose from.

    In Wetherby the long planned Wetherspoon pub opened called Angel Inn. This was previously the Sant Angelo restaurant. Some original features have been preserved including stone fireplaces and timber ceiling beams.
